Salman And Katrina-Ek Tha Tiger

Before you jump to any conclusions and start wondering if Salman and Katrina are back together again, let me tell you there relationship as such is over. They are of course back together on-screen for Yash Raj Films’ next with Salman, which is as you all know, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’. The shooting for Ek Tha Tiger has kicked off in Ireland and Salman and Katrina are taking part in the shoot as thorough professionals.

Our Sallu Bhai though is still battling with a little pain from his facial nerve surgery though. Yet he seems to be giving his best for the film’s shoot that is right now taking place in Dublin, the capital of Ireland.

On sets, both Katrina and Salman are indeed sharing a cordial relationship without letting their break-up affect either the movie or their persona. In fact, they seem to be having quite a jolly good time on the sets. It should be fun to watch the duo on-screen, come June 2012.

Katrina Kaif recently gave an interview to TOI where she talked about her memorable trip to India t the age of 17. What took be my surprise was the fact that she was studying Engineering in London before coming to India.

At 17, I made the sudden decision to come to India in search of a career. I was studying engineering in London at that time, but my heart wasn't in it. I wanted to give modelling and the glamour industry a shot.

Once I'd made up my mind, everything was a blur till I landed in Mumbai. I wasn't anxious or apprehensive about being in a new country as it was like an adventure to me, plus I arrived with my eldest sister Christine. Initially, I did feel slightly overwhelmed - Mumbai is a bustling city, full of energy. We rented a small apartment in Bandra and I met photographer Farrokh Chothia. There was no pressure to succeed at that point, so I'd go for auditions and find myself auditioning with 50 other models. That year shaped what happened in my life.

I met many wonderful people then, like designers Rocky S and Ana Singh, some of whom I still call friends today. It was an important year of discovery in my life - my 17th year. I was in love with Mumbai and felt a sense of belonging here. I thought maybe it was because of my Indian heritage (my father being Indian). Till then, I hadn't been in touch with him much as my father wasn't around too much when I was living in London.

My mom never advised me against modelling or joining the film industry. She just wanted me to be happy. Of course, she was concerned about my safety when I was living alone in Mumbai, so often she would fly down to be with me.

I used to eat a lot then. I wasn't fat, but definitely heavier than I am now. I remember eating homemade chicken curry, especially dal-rice, as it was tasty and inexpensive. It was an exciting phase for me. After Christine left, mom came down for a little bit. I also met Reshma Shetty then, who is my brand manager today. At that time, she and photographer Atul Kasbekar were running a company together. Alison Kanuga was a model coordinator and took me under her wing. It was then that I met Alvira Agnihotri - at an exercise studio. I was struggling to do some steps on an exercise machine facing the wrong direction and Alvira helped me through it. That broke the ice. I met Salman Khan a year later and things changed forever.

There’s no stopping Katrina Kaif nowadays. The London born ‘bony lass’ has been enjoying a rollicking Bollywood ride for the past four years now, and it looks like she is going to have it her way for some more years to come. She’s been bagging some juicy offers of late, and it seems like she is now Yash Raj Films’ most sought after lead lady.

Katrina’s first film under this prestigious production house was New York with John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh which fared well at the B.O and then it was this year’s Mere Brother ki Dulhan which is having a rather good time as far as the collections have to go by. Then, there is Ek Tha Tiger in the making follwed by Yash Chopra’s directorial with Shahrukh Khan which is going to hit the floors sometime in 2012.

If all this was not enough, Katrina has now bagged a role in the upcoming sequel of the prestigious Dhoom franchise, and will be paired opposite Aamir Khan who is going to play the bad guy after John Abraham’s and Hrithik’s stint in the previous two films.

Katrina Kaif is undoubtedly in demand. The actress has bagged another item number in the Hrithik Roshan starrer ‘Agneepath’. If buzz is to be believed, Kats will gyrate to the item song with Sanjay Dutt.

Thee actor will be taking a two week off for the rehersal so as to match his steps with Katrina Kaif, who is now considered one of the finest dancers in Bollywood.

Ajay and Atul Gogavale, who had composed the music of ‘Singham’, will be composing this item number.

Rumors has it that the number will be similar to that of Amitabh Bachchan’s chartbuster ‘Jhuma Chooma De Dein’ from Mukul Anand’s Hum.

Is that bearded look for your next film Barfee?
No, actually, I was in so much hurry that I left half the beard on and had to rush for the event (laughs). This look is just for today.

My day starts with a good and healthy nashta. Then, if my parents are at home, we spend time together, talking about family and work. Then, I go out with my friends or watch some DVDs. I am not very fond of watching TV, but I love watching DVDs. Then I hit my gym and do some workout, after which I return home, and get some sleep. I am the same as any other person; don’t think I am someone different. And, yes, if I am shooting, then the whole day passes in shooting only.

How do you decide to sign a film?
I read the script and see the director. If he sounds smart, I sign it. But it’s not easy, because you have to connect to the character you are playing. And if your inner voice says yes, then only you can take the film. It’s very important to connect with what you are doing to play, and till date, I have connected with all of my characters.

Well, I can’t talk about it right now, as we have just started shooting it, but yes, it’s going to be my first completely different film. And I am very excited to be working in it.

Katrina Kaif is set to don a new avatar in her upcoming flick Mere Brother Ki Dulhan.

Dressed as a bride, sitting on a horse and dancing her heart out, the actress was spotted by Headlines Today in the historical town of Uttar Pradesh as she was shooting for the Yash Raj Films' production. A major portion of the film is being shot in Agra.

Even though she was dressed as a bride, she preferred a ghodi (mare) over a doli (traditional carriage used to carry bride on shoulders) with her groom standing by her side.

Apparently, keeping up with her image in the movie, Katrina beat up a boy black and blue, though just for the cameras.

Along with Katrina, co-actors Imran Khan and Ali Zafar were also present during the shoot. Probably they were shooting the climax scene of the film where they were getting married in front of the Taj Mahal.
